Introduction to cameras

Our class as a group was shown a presentation on how to operate our provided professional cameras. The presentation showed us how to safely use the cameras I.E. how to insert the battery and memory cards. We were told everything from turning the camera on, to how we can use the camera to its best ability. We also got shown all of the cameras features, such as zoom and . We were shown how to manually focus the camera, in comparison to using auto focus, which was sometimes better for tricky shots.
Our class were taught how to get the right frame for different shot types and how to capture better footage of naturalism and continuity.

An essential tool to this camera is the tripod.
The tripod is need to keep the camera steady and to get a fixed camera position .
The camera locks on to the tripod and it is important to make sure it is properly locked on otherwise the camera will wobble. In order to unlock the camera from the tripod we need to press the red button and unscrew the lever at the opposite side so that the camera can slide off.

    Keys fact about ‘Thriller’

Through all the different sub genres of Thriller films, there is one that everyone tends to enjoy the most. And that is:

This is a graph to show you some of the most watched Thriller genre’s but then it shows how many people watch each of those genres. Through this graph, I came up with conclusion that Action Thriller is mostly watched.

    Jelly Bean Animatic =)

In our lesson, we had to make an Animatic of another trailer that we are going to do next lesson. But the situation was that we had to use JELLY BEANS! As exciting as that was, it was pretty hard to actually get accurate shots of the jelly bean, but in our defense I believe that we had done pretty well.

    About:
Our small Animatic was about a boy who had gotten dumped by his girlfriend. Nevertheless, the sum does not stop shining for him. His ray of hope shone down to him and there was a lady, a delicious jelly bean who comes to his rescue and proposes to him. We then see that the family gathers up and they’re setting up for the wedding. Finally, they walk down the aisle and get married. We had to do all of this by using a digital camera, not video camera. We had to take pictures of the whole story that we're trying to put together. It was extremely complicated as we had little jelly men laid around the table, but we have to face up to the challenge.

I know that this may have sounded too basic and boring, but constructing all this together was a lot of hard work. It was funny, when we would look back at the pictures, our hands were on the screen as well. Through our hands came out creation I guess! Now we have our next lesson coming in which we are going to actually have to actually make a trailer out of this. I think this activity was pretty useful as the groups can tell what sort of things they would actually have to do when it comes to point of actually starting to film our real one. With the help of the Jelly beans, it prepares us for what we would be expecting later on. Only it wouldn’t be Jelly beans, it will be Human beings.!

    Editing Programs

    Final Cut Pro:

Confusing or what! But we managed. Through hard work, we managed to get it together. This software helps to create extraordinary editing and because of its easy and fast features, this helps to save time and get things done quickly as possible.
But I’m really useless with iMac’s. I think it’s because I’ve never used an iMac therefore it is extremely hard for me to get the hang of it. On the other hand, by using this, we had managed to create our trailer. We had discovered how to do many different match cuts; for example, when we had a LS of Samir reading the newspaper, instantly we had an OTS of him turning the page. It was quite flexible after getting the hang of the Program. Then gradually, we started cropping out different areas that we did not need and was not relevant to our trailer and gradually we saw that the trailer was being produced through the help of teamwork!

    Soundtrack Pro 3:

The honest truth? I don’t know how to use it! It looks too complicated. However I have sort of got the hang of it. I had discovered the different sound effects that it consists of. I was really surprised. It was great! I may not have the ability to use, but watching my peers attempt to use it was quite interesting.
There were many different things that we could do in order to make the sound of our practice trailer seem professional. Soundtrack Pro 3 enables you to be able to make mixes, enables you to be able to insert your dialogue onto the clip, help to get rid of unwanted sound and many more. It’s very advance and contains many different plug ins so you are able to make a good job out of your video.
In our groups we had to enable a sound track onto our videos in order to make our trailer seem much more entertaining and realistic, something that would make the audience want to watch it. We had used an upbeat background music through-out the whole video. I know personally that we could have had done much better i.e. add more sound effects or done mixes, however, we were extremely short of time! Nevertheless, I know that when we get the time comes for use to produce our own trailer later on, I’m pretty sure we would make a good job out of it.
