EVALUATION: QUESTION 7: What have you learned about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
The first thing we began learning was how to use the camera. This was one of the most important technology we had to understand to actually make our film to work. We used the JVC camera for our thriller and to start of, it was very complicated to get the hang of it as there was so many buttons to learn. But as times went by, we all helped each other and learnt something new every lesson.

After my group got the hang of using the camera and all the equipments we had to get used to many different formats such as the 'blogger' , final cut pro, soundtrack pro and livetype.
Blogger was like a diary, we had to write down what we done every time, this was a update of everything we had to do to show proof of our film and work. I'l say blogger is one of the easiest things to use out of all the formats as it was just typing, adding images and videos. I find blogging very interesting because you can also add other things such as a presentation, power point and links.
The most difficult formats I have used throughout our lesson was final cut pro, soundtrack pro and live type. This was because there were so many things you had to remember, so many buttons that was all complicated. At first I was really confused and it took me ages to get the hang of it. As we finished filming we just asked the teachers for help. We got used to it in the end, but I think that this was the hardest part of editing. It took such a long process to fit everything together but in the end our group all made it. I think by experiencing all these different formats, it made me realize that I have a lot to learn and I am proud that I now know how to use it, this would help me in the future with other things. However I still have a lot to learn about these formats.

The final format that I have discovered was using handbrake. To finish of our film we had to convert it into handbrake which will enable us to watch it on our blogger.

Overall, I have learn so much that it has made a big impact on me. I did not know that it would be this complicated to make a film. Now that I have experienced so much I am pleased that I have worked well with my group. It gives me a positive energy knowing that I have been through all these formats. If i was to change anything I would try to go into detail about each format and use more things to my film.

EVALUATION: QUESTION 4&5: What kind of media institutions might distribute your media product and why? How will you attract/address your audience?
I believe that to start of promoting my film I would use social networks such as Facebook, YouTube and twitter. This is because in these modern days, nearly everyone uses these online network to get in contact with people. YouTube has a very big impact on the world because many things you want to find out or learn is also on there other than Google.
I find YouTube a good source to attract my target audience to watch my thriller is because it gets around very easily. First of all YouTube tells you how many views have watched it and you could also like the film and give feedback by leaving a comment. This helps the person to learn more and to change the film better if it was not that well presented. The more films you make the more fans you get therefore to start of with a low budget student video on YouTube is a good idea. You could also get subscribers which are like your fans, they follow you to get them up to date with all your films.
Here is an example that I have found, a student has made a film and posted it on youtube. She has got 41,632 and so far all her comments seem to be very positive. She has got 125 subscribers which suggests that she is doing a good job. This is a very good way to attract the audience attention and gain a better experience of making more films.

I think the best way to promote students film is to start of small by telling your friends and asking the to share it on Facebook and Youtube. This way you will slowly get fans and become known for what you do.

Another example that I would use to address my audience is Facebook. Everyone uses Facebook and knows about it. It is a good source because similar to Youtube, you can upload videos, comment with feedbacks and also pass it on to friends. You can share the video, make events and create groups to make it even better. Facebook is mainly for your friends therefore your friends could be a good help my passing it on.

EVALUATION: QUESTION ONE: In what way does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
The death's click
Seven
I have decided to compare my media product which is 'The Death's Click' with Seven. This is because there are many similarities that I have seen such as the titles. To start of, both titles are both and has an effect to it which makes the film look more scary. It is both white and has a blur to the letters. This already shows that it is a thriller. The way we had developed this was using intertexuality from another film. We challenged the forms and conventions by adding the closest title style we could find and thats what made parts of our thriller successful and real to other media products.

Another thing that made a big impact on our thriller is the colours we used to edit and the props. We have seen the opening of 'Seven' and we took many ideas from it such as the imagines and the lighting which was quite dark but red. Red suggests blood and evil which we thought would work out quite well and it did. However, the challenging part of making it look like real media products was to get the red light looking realistic. We was not too sure if it would come out well but from all the feedback and comments which realized that it fit in straight away and looked so horrifying. To develop our thriller, we also added bright white lights flashing onto the mask. This shows more excitement and curiosity.

We figured out that if 'Seven' used the mini knife as the main prop. We could also use something which we chose the mask. The way the man was fiddling around with the knife made it look really sick and disgusting as his hands were dry and the knife was sharp. For our thriller, we developed and challenged forms and conventions by fiddling with the mask and having blood dripping down to it. This shows that he is the killer and he is up to no good. It creates tension and superstition, this suggests that he has already killed someone.
Overall, I think we used intetexuality well by developing each shot and challenging ourself to make it look more realistic and of our own. By all the feedbacks, I think we would fit well to make it look like a real media product.
EVALUATION: QUESTION 3: Who would be the audience for your media product?
Nicole who is 17 years old, currently studying at City&Islington sixth form enjoys spending most of her time out with her friends and family. She studies A levels doing 3 courses, textiles, media and photography. She is a very out going person who loves to shop and is very interested in the fashion industry. Her favorite retail shops are Topshop, River Island and Bershka. She is also a very big fan of going cinemas, in a month she would probably go 4 times. The types of movies shes most likely would watch are thrillers, horrors and comedies. Her ambition is to become a fashion journalist or a film director. Nicole is very up to date with the fashion trend as she loves to be different and try out new styles.

Nicole tends to socialize with many people and get to know them through Facebook and twitter. Her everyday items she brings in a bag are her blackberry, purse, oyster and iPod. She travels to college by bus as her journey is only 30minutes long. Nicole loves to explore different things and try out many food that is not her race.

The reason why I have chosen Nicole as my example of my target audience is because she seems very outgoing and my thriller has a up beat music which would get her on the edge of her seats. She's a bubbly person and would love to watch films such as our one. She likes to watch things that gets her confused and makes her think therefore I reckon this thriller would make her want to find out more and be very exciting. This would suit her so much because she loves films that makes her jump. She is quite but then again she likes to step up her game and would take risk to try new things.
Overall I think Nicole would watch our thriller because it excites her. Infact both genders are suitable to watch this film. The age is perfectly fine because the film is not that raw, you do not see the exact killing but you will know who is the killer. By her watching it with her friends, as she loves to hang out with big groups, I think she would enjoy it even more.

EVALUATION:QUESTION 2: How does your media product represent particular social groups?
For this particular opening , i have chosen the mask scene where theres a close-up view of the mask covered in blood. This shot is similar to the film batman where there is a character called the Joker and face all covered in paint. Both faces show a similar impression that there up to no good and are both seeking for anything to do with revenge and evil. The only difference of both these images is that one is wearing a mask and the other is not. Either way, they are both going undercover and not revealing their true faces which suggests its a thriller movie or a horror.
Both of these images represent intertextuality because of the colours white and red. It both shows a first impression of crazy and disgusting personality. Because of their appearance, the first thing the audience would notice the same is how horrifying their faces look.
EVALUATION: QUESTION 6: Audience feedback and comment.

This is a word cloud of all the different discriptions of our film. This feedback from the audience provided the group with a satisfying response due to the main attributes that stood out catched the attention of our target audience.
The main words that stood out the most are , red, dark and scary. This made us feel positive about our film. Our group feels that we have succeeded and we are all proud to say that we have tried the best of our ability. Our group recorded peoples response of our film for evidence. This shows that our film was successful. Many people said that They would pay for this film and would want to watch more, I am very pleased that no one gave any negative feedback at all. There are a few clips that we have recorded of people, which you will see on the blog.
Overall, with the help of teachers and students opinions, it made us think very positive and proud.

24 march Last day of editing.
I was really impressed with the way my whole group worked as a team. We all put all our effort in just to finish this film as it was our last day. The only things we had to do left was add a few sounds in and complete all the title sequences. We managed to finish that just before the lesson ended and I can say I am extremely pleased with how our film came out. A big thanks to Anisa, she has encouraged us to work together as a team rather than arguing and disagreeing all the time. I feel that after all the hard work and what my group has been through, we done very well. I did not expect it this good, I think our film looks better than what we have planned. Many thanks to Anisa, Carlos and Samire.

Front Analysis: Research
Every font has a different use. For example Serif fonts such as Times and Courier could be used to write a formal letter, it could also indicate that the user is older. Another example is Sans Serif fonts such as Ariel and Comic Sans. These are generally more informal, more moddern and more friendly.

The front Palatino shown in the poster Pearl Harbor suggests that the film could be quite old as the end of each letter is quite sharp in a similar way to Times New Roman. Also the spelling tells us it is an American film as 'Harbor' is spelt in the American way. The font of the title makes it seem less obvious and our eyes are drawn into the airplane and the characters. This is because the front is small compared to the image. On the other hand, by having the characters image at the top, it makes us think about the title more and who the actors might be.
The font Franklin Gothic Heavy is used in the title Rocky on a white background which emphasises the title because it stands out. The title 'Rocky' is very bold compared to Pearl Harbour which attracts a younger audience as it is more informal. It is a Sans Serif fonts which shows it is modern.

NEWSPAPER PRACTICE: EVALUATION.
This was our first practice film that we had to do. We were all giving different task, and our groups task was based on a newspaper. We had to think of a idea involving a newspaper. Our group spoke out different things, and we all gave our own opinions. We managed to think of a comedy, which was basically Samire (main character) going into the toilet reading a newspaper while me, Anisa was spying on him, trying to embarrass him. I think we done very well, especially because it was our first time making our own scene. We captured many different shots such as LS, MS,CU and so on. We also done over the shoulder shot which was good. We worked well as a group and managed to edit the film peacefully without no arguments or disagreements. I really enjoyed this lesson, as we all had laughter and fun. We all engaged together, edited the film and finished it in one lesson. I really hope this carries on like this, as we were all happy of the outcome.
I hate you more: practice film pictures.
As we had to change our ideas for the animatic film in the very last minute, we did not finish everything. One person from our group could not make it, therefore it was only me,Anisa and Carlos that came in to do the filming again. Unfortunately Carlos had to leave early so he could not edit it with us. So me and Anisa stayed back to finish the editing. This did not go very well, but me and Anisa tried our best as the others could not stay. I was very disappointed in my group. On the other hand ,with Anisa's help, I think we done quite well with just us two. (:
Jelly baby animatic
In this lesson, we had to create a short animatic with jelly babies. To be honest I thought this was a stupid idea, but i still had to try my best to atleast enjoy it. Me and my group had to think of ideas of what we could do with the jelly babies. It was pretty hard to get ideas knowing that jelly babies would be involved in it. We finally came up with an idea, which was that a couple had met up and then got married. We had to think of props to use so that the jelly babies could stand up as it did not stay in one place. This was very frustrating, my group did not work that well together. As we wasted time, we had to quickly rush and take many shots as we could. We managed to take LS,MS and close up shots. Overall I do not think this lesson went very well, but atleast we could just get it onto final cut pro and get it over and done with. If I had the chance to change it, I would try to think of more ideas and get the group to talk more and work together properly.

Editing skills.
This program was very confusing at first! We had to learn everything step by step to get the hang of it. This is similar to Livetype, they both have many different things that we had to remember. This program does help you a lot with all the editing, it gives you a better effect when you want to change the way you filmed such as black&white and making your scene look more tense by adding slow motion. I think with with the final cut pro, it gave us more confidence to edit this. With the help of teachers and other students, I managed to learn many things.
LIVETYPE AND SOUND.
The whole class was shown a presentation on Livetype, which basically demonstrates how to use it and why its so important to know all the different types of things of it. Learning about Livetype was very complicated as there were so many things to remember. I did not fully understand it. I only remembered the basics which was how to change the fronts and simple things such as moving the letters around etc.
The soundtrack was quite easy to learn, the teacher also done a presentation on this. I was fascinated for how much different sounds there were. This program had literally every sound you would need for editing. I think this was much more simple that the livetype for titles.
Overall they were both very confusing at first, but working with my group would help me understand more, all i need to do is experiment with it, play about with it and just practice. (:
